It is so important that we encourage and inspire girls to reach for careers in Science, Engineering and Maths. There is so much lost potential in the world due to the “pinkification” of young girl’s worlds. A recent studies has shown that 66% of girls in grade 4 like maths and science but only 11% of girls pursue a career in maths, science or engineering.
It starts at home people, be you kids inspiration. In the words of Neil deGrasse Tyson “Your kid smashing pots and pans isn’t an annoyance, it’s their own experiment in auditory perception” Let them play with the eggs and explore their brittleness, let them break them, let them explore and question the natural world.
Kids are born scientists, parents often dislike their children asking why So much but it is the fundamental nature of human beings and by discouraging it we are discouraging thousands if not millions of kids away from science.
This is a call to all parents to inspire your kids, especially girls to think critically and explore the wonders of science
